I remember the the base price on my 2002 being $45.9k (fully loaded ran around $60k).
How time flies.

That doesn't seem too far off considering a decade has gone by, but it's still a lot more than the E9x generation.

According to this inflation calculator , $49,500 in 2002 dollars is like $64,129 in 2013 dollars.
So if you think about it...kinda ahead of the game actually.

Bureau of Labor and Stats Calc $45,900 in 2002 = $59,465.63 in 2013. So close enough. It's more me nostalgically thinking of how "cheap" they were in a vacuum of logic.

I'm not a fan of the Yas Marina... So many better blues in their back catalog to choose from. Were they trying to go for the light blue color in the M stripe?

Depending on what year you start...2008, the base prices were $56k and $58k respectively. I think last year the E92 M3 started right at $60k.

6 years later, the M3 has a base price $5000 lower than the RS4.

Ah. I was thinking MSRP for an E90 M3 was $54k.

Looks like you are correct...54k and 56k respectively for 2008.
By 2011, the prices rose to 56k and 58k.
2012-2013, the M3 coupe was 60k.

Ah, so not at shocking in price jump as I was imagining.

And Laguna Seca's got history:
Maybe once I see Yas Marina with black wheels and grilles I'll be convinced, but I kind of doubt it.

If they wanted to go so light, they should have just copied Porsche's Mexico Blue.
Honestly, Yas Marina looks like a color I might paint on my little girl's bedroom wall.
